HCC to host second annual Gulf Coast Region Apprenticeship Summit and Awards

Oct 12, 2023

Houston Community College (HCC) is set to host the second annual Gulf Coast Region Apprenticeship Summit and Awards Nov. 13-15, 2023, at the HCC West Houston Institute at 2811 Hayes Road in Houston.

The event is part of National Apprenticeship Week, a nationwide, week-long celebration to highlight the impact that registered apprenticeship programs have in building the nation's workforce and economy.

With the theme "Empowering Skills, Transforming Futures: Unleashing the Potential of Apprenticeships," the summit is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to the apprenticeship program, network with leaders and to promote your organization to students looking to enter the workforce.

The event will be a main source for mobilizing partners, students and stakeholders into responding to the challenges and priorities – bringing people seeking learning and employment through an apprenticeship into contact with companies that are either seeking new workers or are willing to up-skill current workers for their industry.

“Registered apprenticeships are becoming a top employee recruitment tool for business as well as a meaningful learning experience for students,” said Dr. Christina Robinson, HCC executive director of Work-Based Learning and Industry Partnerships. “Motivated job seekers of all ages and backgrounds can earn a competitive salary while developing skills that will benefit both their career and the businesses for which they work.”

The summit will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities. Attendees will have the chance to learn about the latest trends and best practices in apprenticeship programs, as well as to connect with industry leaders and experts.
