HCC names top Gulf Coast Region apprenticeship providers

The region’s top apprenticeship providers will be honored tomorrow at the 2nd Annual Houston Community College (HCC) Gulf Coast Region Apprenticeship Forum in recognition of their outstanding contributions to fostering skills development and advancing individuals into careers through apprenticeships.
The companies and organizations will be recognized at the event being held at HCC’s West Houston Institute. Winners and categories include:
Dwyer Workforce Development -- Apprenticeship Champion of the Year
M.D. Anderson -- Apprentice Employer of the Year
Texas Mutual Insurance -- Business and Administration
M.D. Anderson -- Catering and Hospitality
Letsos -- Construction
Encompass Technology -- Technology
Fort Bend ISD -- Education
Worley -- Energy
JAS -- Transport/Logistics
Accredo -- Manufacturing
Harris Health System -- Healthcare
Int’l Union of Operating Engineers -- Union
“These organizations have demonstrated their dedication to equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in vital roles in the workforce,” said Christina Robinson, Ed.D., executive director of HCC’s Work-based Learning and Industry Partnerships. “By offering mentorships, hands-on training and educational support, they have enhanced the employability of individuals and greatly contributed to economic development in the region.”
The forum, which began Monday, has brought together industry leaders, educators, government officials and apprenticeship advocates to celebrate the invaluable contributions of apprenticeships assisting people achieve their workplace dreams.
“We are very proud of the partnerships that our HCC team has developed with these outstanding honorees,” said Interim Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D. “The awards have become a benchmark for excellence, and these winners were selected based on their dedication, innovation and impact in shaping the workforce through consistently delivering high-quality apprenticeships.”
The HCC West Houston Institute is at 2811 Hayes Road, Houston. The awards will be presented at 4 p.m.
The National Apprenticeship Week is November 13-19.
