HCC official named to prominent community college commission

Jul 11, 2022

HCC Southeast College President Frances Villagran-Glover has been appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation.

The commission focuses on the transformation of the institution to improve student success, which includes administrative processes, infrastructure, technology and building human resource capacity.

“Insights and leadership of appointees significantly contributes to the AACC’s decision-making process and its ability to serve the interests of all member institutions,” said Dr. Walter Bumphus, AACC president and CEO of the association, said in announcing the Dr. Villagran-Glovers’ three-year appointment. AACC is the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges. The association represents nearly 1,200 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and more than 12 million students.

Dr. Villagran-Glover became president of HCC Southeast in 2021. She brings to the commission decades of higher education leadership at posts across the nation, as well as views of a first-generation, Latina college graduate.
