HCC appoints new EEO director and Title IX coordinator

Houston Community College has a new director of Equal Employment Opportunity and Compliance/Title IX Coordinator.

Osvaldo Gomez returns to the college system after having served in a similar role from 2018 to 2021. He brings more than three decades of experience in higher education and state government, specializing in employee relations, EEO and Title IX compliance.

Gomez most recently served as the district director or Human Resources Employee Relations and Title IX Coordinator for Tarrant County College in Fort Worth. Earlier, he held roles at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and El Paso Community College.

“We extend a warm welcome to Mr. Gomez as he rejoins HCC to contribute to our efforts in upholding EEO and Title IX compliance,” said Interim Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D. “I know he shares our unwavering commitment to fostering student success.”

In the role within the Office of Institutional Equity, Gomez will manage inquiries regarding HCC’s nondiscrimination policies, compliance with applicable federal and state laws, statutes and regulations.

Gomez holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Houston and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. He began again at HCC on Dec. 1, 2023.
