Michael Houston is a very bright, hardworking, and knowledgeable student. He is willing to help his fellow classmates by tutoring and studying with them. Michael is very polite and respectful to everyone he encounters, and he always received high praise from his preceptors and coworkers during clinicals. Why did you enroll at HCC Coleman College?
I chose the HCC Coleman College nursing program because it fits well with my family dynamics with a special-needs child. I have already been a care provider for my nephew for the past 19 years. Being in the program has only confirmed what I’ve been called to do.

Why did you choose your program of study?
I have a wealth of healthcare experience but from a sales perspective. Nursing will allow me to gain the clinical knowledge needed to serve a role in the overall well-being of the public.

What do you like best about your college experience?
I have enjoyed meeting new people and learning from their unique perspectives and experiences.

What do you like best about your program of study?
I have enjoyed learning new areas of healthcare from a clinical and nutritional perspective and how they correlate and affect overall health.

When you are tired, what motivates you to push forward?
Focusing on the goal helps to push me through. I know the tired moments are just that —moments. They don’t last, but determined people do.

What advice can you offer to help other students succeed?
Stay determined. There are sure to be obstacles that arise, but just have it predetermined in your mind that you will not quit!
