STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:

    to the technical knowledge of operations required for career advancement in the global hospitality industry. Demonstrate social, critical thinking, and communication skills necessary for successful careers and for becoming lifelong learners. Program Information

General Requirements

The Hospitality Administration Program is designed to prepare graduates for entry level management positions in the hospitality industry. Students acquire a broad base of knowledge and skills for a successful career in a challenging business service environment. The program focuses on courses such as front office and hotel operations, hospitality marketing, food and beverage management, hospitality human resource management and leadership, hospitality technology, and event management. All these courses are uniquely designed for the hospitality service industry.

Program offerings include an AAS degree in Hospitality Management in addition to certificate options in Event Management, Hotel Management, and Restaurant Management. Program degree and certificates can be completed all online and the program offers all 8-week courses except the internship course.

Program Mission Statement

The Hospitality Administration Program mission is to provide hospitality professionals with dynamic management and leadership skills focused on contemporary industry experience through a comprehensive curriculum, a commitment to exceptional teaching and student success.

TSI testing required prior to first enrollment for all AAS degrees and Level II certificates.

Employment

Houston is one of the top cities in the United States in frequent dining out and is known as a “foodie-paradise”. Houston saw more than 54 million visitors in the past several years. These figures aren’t just impressive; they’re a testament to the city's growing appeal as a premier destination for business, conventions, and leisure travel. The size of the city, the amount of tourism and events, the growing business industry, and according to TripstoDiscover.com, Houston was ranked the #1 most popular city in Texas for overseas tourists/the #6 most visited metro in the United States, and Houston ranks number 40 on the list of the World’s Best Cities - all of this supports opportunities for hospitality for students.  

This is also an industry that heavily promotes from within the organization. Houston’s ranking on an annual list of America’s best performing cities rose significantly thanks to substantial job growth led by the leisure and hospitality industry. Houston’s ranking on the Milken Institute’s report on Best Performing Cities went from 144th in 2023 to 62nd in 2024 to 27th place in 2025 as one of the fastest growing economically performing cities. 362,600 people are projected to be employed by the leisure and hospitality sector in metro Houston with projected growth at a rate of 3 – 5% over the next decade.

The estimated total pay (including bonuses, etc.) for a Hospitality Manager is $86,000 per year in the Houston area with the average medium salary at $61,183 per year. 

  • Hotel Manager:  $79,000 – $147,000; $106,000 medium salary
  • Restaurant Manager: $60,000 - $101,000; $77,000 medium salary
  • Event Management: $66,000 – $111,000; $85,432 medium salary

 

Hybrid Programs Restrictions

Hybrid programs allow students to take a mix of online and face-to-face courses. Hybrid programs offer 50% to 85% of their courses online and the remainder of the curriculum is taken in-person on one of HCC’s campuses. Language Option Restrictions

Some hybrid programs require students to participate in foreign language courses as part of the program’s required curriculum. Please contact your advisor for more information about specific program requirements and available language options. If you would like to take courses in a language that is not offered online, you would have to do so on campus.

Some hybrid programs may have a limited number of elective options available, based on which of the designated electives are currently offered online.  Please contact your advisor for more information about specific program requirements.
