Fabrication and Innovation Lab

Different types of fabrication equipment

A Fab Lab, short for fabrication laboratory, is a small-scale workshop equipped for both digital and traditional fabrication. It is a space designed to transform ideas into tangible projects through access to a wide range of tools and technologies.

At Houston City College, the Fab Lab is available to all students, faculty and staff, with additional access offered through continuing education programs.

Our lab combines state-of-the-art equipment with essential standard tools, providing a unique environment for learning, experimentation and innovation. On-site training is offered for most machines and visitors are welcome to explore the lab and discover its capabilities.

The Fab Lab is open to the public with a reservation; however, minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We also conduct outreach to schools and welcome classes, groups and companies interested in guided tours of the facility.
