HCC names Dr. Lisa Alcorta as Vice Chancellor of Student Services

Houston City College (HCC) has announced that Dr. Lisa Alcorta has joined HCC as vice chancellor of student services, effective Aug. 18, 2025.
Dr. Alcorta brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in higher education, student affairs and institutional transformation. She most recently served as senior vice president for programs and operations at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, where she led strategic initiatives benefiting more than 500 member institutions across the U.S. and abroad.
“Dr. Alcorta’s record of advancing student-centered strategies and promoting equity in education will be a tremendous asset to HCC,” said Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D.. “Her leadership will help us strengthen our student services and ensure that every student has the support they need to succeed.”
Earlier in her career, Dr. Alcorta held senior roles at the Alamo Colleges District in San Antonio, including as Vice President of Student Success at San Antonio College. There, she oversaw enrollment management and guided initiatives that significantly improved student retention, graduation and transfer rates. Her work in holistic student experience models, data-informed decision-making and cross-functional collaboration has received national recognition.
Dr. Alcorta holds a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree in social work from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
