HCC alumna reflects on her accomplishments after earning dual degrees

Kinzah Ali is a proud graduate of the Houston City College Northwest College, where in 2020, she earned an Associate of Science Degree before completing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Texas at Tyler.

Thanks to HCC’s partnership with UT Tyler at the Northwest College's Alief Hayes Campus, Kinzah seamlessly transferred her coursework into the bachelor’s program while continuing her studies on the same campus. Alongside her classes, she also gained hands-on experience working part time as a lab assistant.

“I spent a lot of time at HCC––two years as an intern at the Alief Campus and another two years with UT Tyler,” she recalled. “I was on campus five days a week, arriving early and staying until the building closed most nights.”

That hard work and determination have quickly paid off.

“Within five years of joining Boeing, I was promoted to mechanical engineering manager, which was the highlight of my life,” she shared. 

Kinzah says she works in Charleston, South Carolina, supporting the 787 commercial aircraft program.

 “I feel quite accomplished.”
