Deadline for candidates to file application for place on the ballot or a declaration of write-in candidacy

Monday, March 7, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. (Late filings WILL NOT be accepted)

What are the candidate eligibility requirements for office in Texas?

Candidate Eligibility Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• ​Must be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election, as applicable
• Must not have been adjudged by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
• ​Must have not been finally convicted of a felony without a pardon or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities
• Must have resided in HCC District II for at least six months and in the State of Texas for at least 12 months immediately preceding the filing deadline described above
• ​On the filing deadline described above, must be a registered voter in HCC District II
