HCC District VII Newsletter

Nov 22, 2013

‌‌‌Neeta Sane Dear Neighbors,‌‌

As 2013 winds up, it is a pleasure to reflect on the accomplishments and progress that we have made for students’ success over the past six years. Working on behalf of the communities which HCC serves, I have ensured that we significantly expanded academic and workforce programs in the growing regions of the Greater Houston Area. Important milestones in these efforts include launching the Alief Early College High School, the engineering degree program, trade certifications, programs in Fine Arts and athletics. We are also proud that HCC is graduating more students every year.

To prepare students for 21st Century academia and workforce demands, I was glad to initiate a Workforce Support Scholarship Program through the HCC Foundation. We also launched the HCC-ASPIRE Scholarship Program to honor HCC’s mission to promote equal opportunity for all HCC students. I would like to thank all of our partners for their commitment to student success.

In going forward, we will be gearing up for the next phase of growth. The design and planning of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Health Sciences and Technology, along with additional workforce training facilities in HCC District VII, is underway. During my second term on the HCC Board beginning in 2014, we will continue to grow the positive momentum and partnerships we have built with area school districts, industry partners and community members. We will also continue to build the educational pipeline for students to transition from high school to college to career.

Let’s look forward to a very exciting and productive time ahead and I wish you a very happy holiday season.

In service,
Neeta Sane
Trustee, District VII
