About your browser

Q:  Will my browser work with the HCC website?

A: The recommended browser is Firefox.  See Student System Requirements for detailed information regarding browser and operating system configurations.

Known issues:

  • The back button can cause errors within the Student System. Always navigate through the hyperlinks.
  • Pop-up blocker software can block various functions. Be sure to allow pop-ups when using the Student System. 
  • You may need to add HCC website to your Compatibility view settings if you are using Internet Explorer 10.  See Student System Requirements for detailed information.  
  • You may need to clear Cookies and Cache. See Student System Requirements for detailed information.

Q: How can I print from the Student Center?

A: Most pages in the Student Center have a "printer friendly" button or link. If there is no "printer friendly" option you may try the following steps:

  1. Highlight the content
  2. Select print preview
  3. If the information cuts off you may need to reduce the scale percentage
  4. Select print

 

About sign in

Q:  I attended HCC last semester, but I've never used the Student System. How do I get a User ID?

A:  If you have completed an HCC admissions application or attended HCC in the past, you probably already have a User ID and temporary password waiting for you!

Go to the Student System Sign In page and click the "First Time User" link. Enter your social security number (SSN) or P number and date of birth (DOB) to retrieve your User ID and temporary password. You will be prompted to change your temporary password when you sign in.

Remember: You will keep the same User ID throughout your HCC career.

 

Q:  I've forgotten my User ID. What do I do?

A:   If you have forgotten your User ID, you can retrieve it with just a few clicks.

Go to the Student System Sign In page and click the "Retrieve UserId" link. Enter your social security number (SSN) or P number and date of birth (DOB) to retrieve your User ID.

 

Q:  I've forgotten my password. What do I do?

A:  If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it with just a few clicks.

Go to the Student System Sign In page and click the "Reset Password" link.  Enter your social security number (SSN) or P number, date of birth (DOB) and User ID to access your account. Enter your new password and save the information.

 

Q:  What do I do if I think I've locked myself out of the Student System?

A:   If you have been locked out of your account, you can unlock it with just a few clicks.

Go to the Student System Sign In page and click the "Reset Password" link.  Enter your social security number (SSN) or P number, date of birth (DOB) and User ID to access your account. Enter your new password and save the information.

 

Q:  I recently submitted an application for admission. How do I obtain my User ID to access the Student System?

A:   User IDs are regularly generated by the system. Semester Credit Hour (SCH) and Adult High School (AHS) applicants should wait 30 minutes to 1 hour before attempting to retrieve their User ID. Continuing Education (CEU) and Non Credit (NCR) applicants will have receive their User ID immediately upon successful completion of the self-service Continuing Education application.

 

Go to the Student System Sign In page and click the "First Time User" link. Enter your social security number (SSN) or P number and date of birth (DOB) to retrieve your User ID.

 

Q: What are Challenge Questions?

A:  Challenge questions are short questions and answers that are used to help reset or unlock your   password. You need to select 3 pre-defined questions; each question must have a different answer.  You will also have to create one question to allow member of the helpdesk to assist you with reset or unlocking the account if you call for assistance.

 

Q:  Who will be asked to answer Challenge Questions?

A:   All HCC Student System Users.

 

Q:  When will I have to provide Challenge Questions?

A:   Users will be asked to provide 3 Challenge Questions and 1 Help Desk Question upon the first login beginning November 6, 2013. 

 

Q:  How will I change or update my Challenge Questions once I save them?

A:  Users are allowed to review, update or change Challenge Questions by clicking My System Profile from the Student Service Menu.

 

Q:  Will the help desk staff be allowed to change or update my Challenge Questions?

A:  No. The help desk will only be allowed to view the Help Desk Question.  All other Challenge Questions and answers will only be visible to the Users.  These questions will be used by the computer system to unlock your account during reset or to unlock the account.

 

About registering

Q:  Can I register online if the class I want to take has already started?

A:  We do not recommend that you register for a class after the class has started. HCC offers courses at many convenient times throughout the semester. Check the online schedule of classes to see if the course you want to take is offered at another time.

 

About Paying Your Fees

Q:  What forms of payment are accepted over the web?

A:  You can use a valid Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express card. You can also use a debit card with the Visa or Mastercard logo. You may not use a non-USA credit card. Online payment via check is also available. After you sign in and verify your mailing address, click on "Make a Payment or Set up Payment Plan" under the Finances section.

 

Q:  What if I can't pay my fees online?

A:  You can go to a campus to pay your full tuition and fees in person.   

 

Q:  Can I make a partial payment online?

A:  If you enroll in an installment payment plan you will be allowed to make a partial payment online. If you do not select an installment plan, you will need to pay your tuition and fees in full.

 

Q:  When are my fees due?

A:  The Last day to pay for Online Registration is shown in the Academic Calendar. Thereafter, all tuition and fees are due at the time of enrollment unless you have set-up a payment plan.
