How do I transfer
University Transfer
Are you thinking of transferring to a University?
There are many options to consider as you complete your Associate’s degree and begin thinking about transferring to a university. It is very important to do some research and determine which institution is just right for you!
Some sources of information include:
*Transfer plans and information, admissions requirements, transfer scholarships, and course equivalencies can usually be found at each university’s web site.
*University representatives also come to HCC SW on a regular basis and set up a table to answer your questions or to help.
* A Transfer Fair, where many University Transfer Representatives all come at the same time for your convenience, is held once each semester at an HCC SW campus.
*HCC SW counselors can answer many questions and get you started on the right path.
*The HCC web site has a lot of transfer information that you can access by clicking on “Current Students”, then “Transfer.” This includes links and Transfer Sheets with course equivalences from most Texas Universities, and some out of state universities.
Important notes
Most 4 year universities have strict application deadlines. Start looking at transfer institutions at least one semester before you expect to graduate from HCC.
Some 4 year institutions grant automatic acceptance to those students who have completed an Associate’s degree.
Most senior public universities and colleges in Texas accept 66 semester hours of credit from a Community College. We also have 2+2 transfer plans for most of these colleges.
You are encouraged to check with the college or university of your choice about its guidelines concerning credit transfers. Ultimately, decisions about which courses will transfer are made by the accepting institution.
