Q: What do I need to do in order to apply for admissions to HCCS?
A: You can apply to HCC by submitting an application for admissions at http://hccs.edu/portal/site/hccs

Q: Will I need to test?
A: You may; the state of Texas requires TSI testing for those who are not exempt by high school scores or previous college work. Submit transcript to HCCS by mail or in person, and we will determine if you have to test or not.

 Q: What courses will I be taking at HCCS?
A: That depends on how you tested, counselors will discuss with you what course you will need to take at HCCS.

Q: Does HCCS have a disability department?
A: Students with ADA needs must make an appointment with ADA office at (713) 718-7910. http://www.hccs.edu/hccs/future-students/disability-services

Q: When can I see a counselor?
A: Counselors & Student Service Associates are available Mon-Thurs from 9:00 A.M-7:00 P.M, and Friday’s from 9-1. (No appointment needed)

Q: What student activities can I get involved in?
A: Join student organizations, clubs, and sport teams while you are a student. See student live website.

Q: Can I get help with my courses?
A: Yes, obtain tutoring when you need it. Many services are available from on-line labs, on campus tutoring, see: http://learning.swc.hccs.edu/library

Q: What about transfer work?
A: Transfer students should request an official transcript from ALL colleges they have attended. Students may have the transcripts mailed to them but should leave the transcripts “SEALED”. Student should be directed to give their sealed transcripts to the enrollment office. Transfer students may earn a degree from HCC if they complete a minimum of 18 credit hours towards a degree at HCCS

Q: What is a degree plan?
A: Obtain degree plan once you have selected a major. It is your road map to reaching your educational goals. A counselor can assist you in the process except during on-campus registration.

Q: How do I enroll in classes?
A: Register early to obtain the classes at the times, days, and locations you desire. Pay when you register or make a payment plan.

 Q: How do I graduate?
A: Counselor will help you “Apply for graduation” the semester before you expect to finish. Return to campus where you completed you degree plan or take your copy of the plan with you. If you desire a printed certificate you will need to pay the fee when you file to graduate.
