After 35 years of service, Cindy Renfro, HCC Southwest Developmental English professor and former Southwest College Developmental Studies department chair, is saying farewell to Houston Community College.

Renfro started at HCC Southwest as an Adjunct Instructor in 1990 and became part of the faculty in 1993. Four years later, she was Department Chair of Developmental Studies and Teacher Education, a position she held through 2003.

Renfro has many accolades to her credit. She was recognitized for Outstanding Student Evaluation of Instruction from 1994 to 2014, received the Bedichek Faculty Development Distinguished Service Award, and the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Texas at Austin. She also received the Christa McAuliffe in Search of Excellence Award for Teacher from Houston West Chamber of Commerce.

In parting, Renfro’s advice to her colleagues is to "mentor someone.” A retirement reception will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th at Stafford Campus Learning Hub, Room 300.
