Step inside the West Loop Art Gallery and you’ll see a myriad of colors, styles and mediums on display. Instructors chose 16 Houston Community College students to represent the West Loop and Stafford Campuses in the Spring 2015 Level II Juried Student Art Exhibition.
“These works of art are created by students in Level II classes at the fine arts department,” HCC Art Instructor Pat Porcynaluk said. “The artwork shown represents pieces from the student’s semester-long portfolio. We have an art professional judge them, and then we hand out awards on opening reception night.”
The award winners are:
Best in Show – “Figure Out,” a painting by Christopher Fornesa
First Place – “Keep Breathing,” a drawing by Brittney Crowe
Second Place – “Summer in Bronze,” a drawing by Yasmin Bersugurova
Third Place – Untitled, photography by Aisha Lakhani
Honorable Mention – “Phoenix Helmet,” a ceramic by Heather Cramer
Honorable Mention – “In My Finger Tips,” a drawing by Michelle Chavero
Houston artist Valerie Milo judged this exhibition. The student exhibit is free and open to the public and runs through Friday, May 29.
