Mohamed didn't stop there; he came back to the U.S. and attended the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where he received his master's degree in Information Technology.

Recent demographic reports confirm that workforce certification is the future of Houston employment as its population continues to diversify. Houston Community College Southwest is answering that need with more skills training by finalizing plans for new campus buildings dedicated solely to workforce certification programs. Groundbreaking will begin in Fall 2014, with new workforce structures at HCC Southwest’s West Loop and Missouri City Campuses, followed by a project at the Stafford Campus.

What an exciting year it's been for the HCC Stafford TV studio and head of production, Don Wells, and his staff. HCC Southwest, in a partnership with Rice University and the University of Texas, has helped refurbish the .8 meter (30-inch) research telescope at McDonald Observatory in West Texas. In November, HCC Southwest faculty, including Don Wells and co-principle investigator for the project, Juan-Carlos Reina, travelled to the McDonald Observatory to train on the revamped telescope.
